Lodge Lodge Colinton and Currie No. 1029 marked a highlight of the Masonic calendar with its Annual Installation and Festival of St John, an evening that perfectly blended dignity, tradition, and warm fraternal celebration.

This year saw Kenneth Paterson PM installed into the Chair of King Solomon for the fifth time in his distinguished Masonic career—an achievement that speaks volumes about his commitment, experience, and the esteem in which he is held by the brethren.

The ceremony was expertly conducted by the Installing Masters, Douglas Munro PM and David Healy PM, whose delivery and attention to detail were a true credit to the Lodge.

The Temple was filled to capacity, with 75 brethren in attendance, comprising members of the Lodge and visiting brethren from within and outwith the Province of Midlothian. The breadth of attendance reflected the strong bonds enjoyed by the Lodge, with visitors travelling considerable distances—including brethren from Northumberland representing Lodge Vanbrugh No. 8412.

The Installation was further honoured by the presence of Robert Reid Law, Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master of Midlothian, accompanied by Lewis Young, Provincial Grand Lodge of Midlothian Director of Ceremonies.

Their attendance underlined the significance of the occasion and added further distinction to the proceedings.

During the ceremony, the newly appointed Office Bearers of the Lodge were duly invested into their respective positions, each undertaking their role with pride and enthusiasm for the year ahead. The ceremony as a whole was excellently conducted, reflecting great credit on both Installing Masters and all involved in its organisation.

Following the formal proceedings, the brethren adjourned to celebrate the Festival of St John, marking the Installation of the new Master in a spirit of harmony and good fellowship.

The evening featured speeches from various distinguished brethren, along with musical harmony provided by Bro. Douglas Munro PM, Bro. Ronald Moyes PM, and Bro. Gary Clarke PM on behalf of the Province, together with contributions from visiting brethren who had travelled from further afield, Bro. Jim Thomson PM and Bro. Phil Mowat.

The Festive Board was filled with laughter, reflection, and a healthy measure of banter—an evening defined by brotherly love, celebration, and unity, and one that will be fondly remembered by all who attended.

As the Lodge looks ahead, there is great optimism and confidence for the year to come under the experienced guidance of the Right Worshipful Master Kenneth Paterson PM
