A Busy and Memorable Evening at Lodge Colinton & Currie No. 1029

Lodge Colinton & Currie No. 1029 was alive with activity and fraternal warmth on what proved to be a truly memorable evening. The lodge room was filled with brethren from near and far, gathered together to share in the bonds of friendship, tradition, and Masonic fellowship.

We were delighted to welcome not just one, but several distinguished deputations. First to enter was the deputation from Lodge Dalkeith Kilwinning No. 10, followed closely by our visiting brethren from Lodge Loretto Centenary No. 1373.

Both deputations were warmly received into the lodge, and their presence added greatly to the evening’s atmosphere of unity and brotherhood.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, we were honoured by a deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Midlothian, headed by the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Brother Robert Law.

The arrival of the Provincial Grand Lodge always adds gravitas to any meeting, and it was a true privilege for the brethren of 1029 to extend a heartfelt welcome to Brother Law and his office-bearers.

The first ceremony of the evening was particularly special. Honorary Membership of Lodge Colinton & Currie No. 1029 was conferred upon Bro. Lewis Young and Bro. Kenny Harris, both proud members of Lodge Dalkeith Kilwinning No. 10.

These two brethren have been faithful visitors to Colinton & Currie for many years and are widely regarded as stalwarts of the Masonic fraternity. Their dedication, friendship, and long-standing support were formally recognised and celebrated in fitting style.

The main work of the evening followed, with the elevation of Bro. Bradley Young to the esteemed position of Fellowcraft Mason. Bro. Young conducted himself with distinction throughout, and the degree team executed the ceremony with great dignity and skill. It was a proud moment for all present to witness his progress on the Masonic journey.

Following the formal proceedings, the lodge hall came alive with an unofficial harmony, where brethren relaxed together in true fraternal spirit. It was heartening to see so many familiar faces mingling, sharing stories, and enjoying the fellowship that is at the very heart of Freemasonry.

It was, without doubt, a busy evening at Lodge Colinton & Currie No. 1029 - but more importantly, it was one filled with friendship, respect, and a deep sense of what it truly means to be a Freemason. We extend our sincere thanks to all our visiting brethren and look forward to many more occasions where we may meet again upon the square.
